Denver Concrete Company builds concrete patios across the Denver metro, from simple broom-finished slabs to full stamped outdoor living spaces. A stamped concrete patio runs $21 to $25 per square foot with a $5,000 minimum, and a sand finish runs $17 to $19 per square foot. Estimates are free, on site and in writing.
Patio Finishes and What They Cost
- Broom finish. The classic gray patio with a light texture for traction. It is the most affordable option, and we price it by size and access at your free estimate.
- Sand finish, $17 to $19 per square foot. A smooth, fine-grained surface that looks more refined than a broom finish and stays comfortable under bare feet.
- Stamped concrete, $21 to $25 per square foot. Color and pattern pressed into the slab to look like stone, slate, brick or wood plank. Browse stamp patterns and colors.
A 300 square foot stamped patio costs about $6,300 to $7,500. Backyards the concrete truck cannot reach need a pump, which starts at $450. Trying to choose between materials? Read stamped concrete versus paver patios.
How Big Should a Patio Be?
Start with how you will use it. A table for six needs roughly 12 by 14 feet so chairs can slide back. A grill needs a few feet of clear space on every side. A seating area around a fire pit works best at 14 to 16 feet across. Most of the patios we pour fall between 250 and 500 square feet. We will mark the outline in your yard during the estimate so you can see the size before you commit.
Build the Whole Outdoor Space at Once
A patio is the cheapest time to add the things that sit on it or next to it, because the forms, base and concrete truck are already there.
- Gas or wood-burning fire pits
- Outdoor kitchens and grill islands
- Hot tub pads poured to carry the weight
- Walkways and steps that tie the patio to the house and yard
- Artificial turf alongside the slab
How We Build a Concrete Patio
- Layout and estimate. We measure, check drainage and settle the shape, finish and color with you.
- Excavation and grade. We remove sod or old concrete and set the grade so water runs away from your foundation.
- Base and forms. We compact the base and set forms, including any curves, steps or borders.
- Pour and finish. We place the concrete, apply the finish you chose and cut control joints so the slab cracks in straight, planned lines.
- Cleanup and care. We strip the forms, clean up and walk you through curing and sealing.
Patios That Hold Up in Colorado
Front Range patios deal with freeze-thaw cycles, strong sun and clay soil that moves with moisture. Good drainage and a compacted base do most of the work. After that, sealing protects the surface and keeps the color of a stamped or sand-finished patio from fading. Avoid de-icing salt on any decorative finish and use sand for traction in winter.
